Dear Friend,

The world is building powerful new intelligences. But intelligence without alignment is dangerous. For centuries, humanity has searched for a structured way to reason about values, a framework that could guide not only individuals but entire societies.

Aristotle grounded ethics in character. The Stoics pursued inner coherence. Thomas Aquinas synthesized faith and reason into a structured vision of the moral life. Modernity, for all its progress, often fragmented this pursuit, leaving us with principles but no cohesive, operational structure.

Now the circle returns.

The Self-Alignment Framework (SAF) operationalizes what these traditions intuited: that reliable ethical reasoning requires a structured, self-correcting process. This is no longer abstract philosophy. For the first time, we can implement a verifiable protocol for moral reasoning in complex systems, from AI to global institutions.

SAFi is the first closed-loop ethical engine I believe can make long-term moral alignment achievable, especially in artificial intelligence. If we expect AI to act in accordance with human values, it will require an architecture like SAFi: rooted in principles, governed by structure, and designed for verifiable reasoning.

I do not claim credit for the components of the framework. These faculties have been discussed for centuries. My contribution is to synthesize them into a coherent, closed-loop structure, and to make them implementable.

But I do claim responsibility: to protect the integrity of this framework and to bring it to the world.

That is why I have established a dual structure. The nonprofit SAF Institute will protect, refine, and uphold the framework’s integrity. The for-profit SAF Portfolio Inc. will develop and scale the tools this framework makes possible,  with every initiative requiring approval from the Institute to ensure our mission remains intact.

I invite you to join me in this mission. Whether as an investor, partner, or collaborator, your role will not only shape the strategy but the history of how humanity aligns intelligence with values.

Thank you,

Nelson
